And with rope-skills come thicker skin and sharper nails... Which I am not fond of. But here's my new goal: To not scratch those nails as deeply as I used to, and to lose the thick skin as well!The last couple of years have been challenging for me as a musician. It helped me learn some minor chords but I didn't stay with it because it wasn't right for my personality... until I met my piano teacher, Anastasia. She was kind, patient, and she taught me how to play the piano while I was able to express myself more while playing the piano. With her help, I was able to learn how to read music while learning the notes on paper. She is a one-woman band who is not only an excellent pianist but also very talented in playing other instruments.The teacher's job is not finished after you learn how to play the instrument on your own. She is still there to guide you, advice on what to play on stage, and help you with the dynamics.The best way for me to learn more about music was through a course that my piano teacher recommended. I took an intermediate piano course that covers theory, basic theory of voice, ear training, and solfege (sight-singing). It was really fun learning the basics of music! And not only did I learn; I got to apply it right away! We sang in small groups at school cultural nights where we performed different songs or songs from musicals like Wicked or West Side Story. I am a very shy person. This has been a problem since I was young, and that's why I never tried piano lessons until I was 11 years old. My first piano teacher, Anastasia, recommended a course called "Conscious Piano" to help develop my playing skills quickly. It taught me the fundamentals of music theory as well as how to read music.
